Just make sure you turn on the document grid and "snap to grid" options. Use the alignment tools to get everything squared up and use the the pathfinder to join objects together. Grouping objects helps keep them organized. I use the pen tool for all the curved lines and making shapes for rubble.Everything else is just boxes and circles. :-)

The map was created in Adobe In-Design, not much to it really.
Pshoo.... MY Adobe InDesign NEVER did anything that cool!
